We Care About Children and Families

There are many big changes happening in the children’s early years and child care service system that will have an influence on the children and families in our local communities.

All Ontario Early Years Centres and Better Beginning Better Futures have been changed to EarlyON Child and Family Centres as of January 2018. These new Child and Family Centres are being renewed to offer more services that will provide greater positive outcomes for all children and families.

More funding has been made available to increase access to licensed child care for families with children ages birth up to four years of age. More funding to support families who need help to pay for child care for their children ages birth up to 12 years of age is also available.

The Corporation of the County of Wellington is responsible for planning and managing the children’s early years system for the City of Guelph and the County of Wellington, which includes the Township of Centre Wellington, Town of Erin, Township of Guelph-Eramosa, Township of Mapleton, Town of Minto, Township of Puslinch and the Township of Wellington North. It is our goal that these services are high quality and made available in a way that is equal to all families as much as possible. It is very important for us to hear the voices of all families and caregivers to help us shape the details of these services so that they meet your needs.

We invite you to share your thoughts with us through an online survey and/or by attending an in-person event coming to your area in the coming weeks and months. Just click on the topics of interest to you to start the survey. Check back to see a list of upcoming events in your community.

Attend a Community Conversation

We know that sometimes surveys are not enough to really understand what’s going on. It helps to be able to explain your situation to a real person, and even to work with your neighbours to design services that make sense in your context.

So, we will be holding community conversations near where you live.

Anyone who cares for children 12 and under is welcome to attend.
